Why aren’t you close to me?

I’m in my room lying on my bed, asking myself why? Why do most guys in our age want a girl in their lives? Why do most girls need a guy in their lives?

Well as a guy, I was able to figure out the first question’s answer easily. A guy our age is full of emotions due to the overflow of hormones in his body. Alot of emotions that need to be directed towards someone, so, where must these emotions go? A man who asked this question to the most wise human being on Earth: Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) and he said:

“جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، مَنْ أَحَقُّ النَّاسِ بِحُسْنِ صَحَابَتِي ؟ قَالَ : ” أُمُّكَ ” قَالَ : ثُمَّ مَنْ ؟ قَالَ : ” ثُمَّ أُمُّكَ ” قَالَ : ثُمَّ مَنْ ؟ قَال : ” ثُمَّ أُمُّكَ ” قَالَ ثُمَّ مَنْ ؟ قَالَ : ” ثُمَّ أَبُوكَ

All of us know this hadeeth and most of us have it memorized, but how many of us actually abide by it? How many of us heed by the precious information in it?

What about the second question? I thought about it for a while. Girls need tenderness, need someone to protect them, someone to make them feel safe, and someone who puts a hand on their shoulders telling them “You’re safe.” Who do you think is qualified for this? The answer is really simple, “the parents.”

So parents, why aren’t you close to those boys and those girls? They need you more than anything. Unfortunately nowadays, we find fathers at work (or abroad working) most of the time. They come back home exhausted from work. Some mothers also go to work and they come back tired. Consequently, they don’t have the energy to sit with their children, to ask them how they are, and how their day was.

Those children, they can’t find what they need, so what do they do? They do what anyone who is searching for something does, they search, using the internet or at school or wherever. They search for a person who can replace those parents. Some people may think the problem is solved as the child finds what he/she needs. Actually, the problem isn’t solved at all. In fact there is a new problem generated, the problem of possible heart-break for both of them because of the lack of experience both of them have. An even worse case scenario, a huge mistake leading to a child being born without marriage.

So, please parents, get closer to your children. They really need you. Without you, the internet and television are the sources of teaching them what is right and what is wrong. Of course, we know who controls the internet and television, and we really don’t want our generation raised by those people.

Someone told me that our parents won’t understand our way of thinking the way our friends do (friends of the same or different gender) and therefore we can’t get close to them.

Well thats because parents lose contact with their children, and by losing contact I don’t mean parents don’t hear or see them, I meant that parents lost contact of brains with their children, and this is a result of not being close to their children for a long time, so they didn’t “update” the way their children think as those children became older.

So how can we solve this problem? We -children- must take the first step, we must talk to our parents, we must ask them to listen to us, ask them to know how we feel, what we need. Don’t say I am too old for this. No matter how old we are, we still need them. When parents make this connection and become close to us, alot of problems in our society will be solved. Equilibrium will be achieved. We will find someone with experience to tell us what to do in different life situations. I’m hundred percent sure that our parents’ advices and thoughts will be better than any friend’s advice.

And you -parents- should talk to your children, understand them, and I’m almost sure that you’ll find that your children aren’t what you think they are. They are not the children who sit in front of a computer all the time, the children whose minds aren’t thinking about anything other than gaming and fashion. You’ll be surprised to find that your children as smart who think about great ideas and who aren’t supported by anyone.

So I ask you, why aren’t you close to me?
